CHRIS TIU: ONE MORE REASON TO WATCH PBA

It's been long overdue!

Finally, the 27-year-old basketball heartthrob Chris Tiu announces that he has finally decided to join the 2012 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) draft.

His fans, Iglesia ni Chris Tiu (as they call themselves), went crazy when he hinted on his decision via Twitter, posting: “Hello PBA :)”

Chris Tiu, who is also a model, TV host, politician and businessman, played for the Ateneo Blue Eagles for four years that led successful championship in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP).

He went on to play for the national team, Smart Gilas, for three years.

Surely basketball fans
would now have one more reason
to watch PBA -- Chris Tiu.

2012 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) draft will be held on August 19, 2012 at Robinson's Place Manila.

CORY: THE FILIPINOS WILL NEVER FORGET

Maria Corazon "Cory" Sumulong Cojuangco Aquino
(January 25, 1933 – August 1, 2009)

Three years ago today, the Philippine nation, rich and poor, mourned the loss of a true icon of democracy, Corazon C. Aquino.

To the world, she was the widow in yellow who toppled a dictatorship in a stirring show of People Power in 1986.  To her native Philippines, she was the courageous president who saw off a series of coups d’etat and single-mindedly restored the institutions of democracy.

But to herself, Corazon C. Aquino is a plain housewife who, in all conscience, could not refuse her country’s call to service when her husband, former senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., was assassinated in 1983.  She continued to serve after her term of office ended in 1992 through her work with non-governmental organizations.

“What is important is that we believe in the Almighty and that we try to do whatever we can to help ease some of the sufferings of our people,” she says.

“I always tell my children:  ‘I don’t know how many good years I still have left, but whatever I can do at this time, I really want to be able to continue not only for the cause of democracy, but also to help in bringing about a better Filipino.”  For the rest of my life, I will be doing whatever I can to improve things.”

"Hindi ka nag-iisa."

HOMICIDERS IN SAN BEDA LAW COMMUNITY

Is it impeccable to say that there are homiciders inside San Beda Law community?

In February this year, San Beda law student Marvin Reglos died after hazing initiation rites of the Lambda Rho Beta fraternity in Antipolo City.

Only five months later, another freshman at the San Beda College of Law in Manila died allegedly after undergoing initiation rites of a still unknown fraternity.

22-year-old Marc Andrei Marcos was apparently beaten to death in a suspected hazing ritual and died in a hospital on Monday.

"Let's just say na yung arms niya
at yung legs niya kulay ube...
"

"Let's just say na yung arms niya at yung legs niya kulay ube... Kulay ube. Medyo masakit yung pagkamatay niya," said Atty. Jose Vener Ibarra, Marcos' uncle.

Andrei's family members believe he was undergoing initiation rites by the Lex Leonum fraternity composed of San Beda law students.*

Definitely, our existing anti-hazing law lacks teeth and must be amended. The authorities and all concerned parties should decisively act to bring to justice the perpetrators of this most heinous of crimes.

Justice for
Marc Andrei Marcos, Marvin Reglos
and all victims of fraternity-related violence!

P-NOY'S SPEECH SLAPS NOLI DE CASTRO

I wonder how will Noli de Castro behave today after Pnoy's speech slapped him Friday night at TV Patrol anniversary. Parts of the speech follow:

KAREN AND HER GANDA POINTS

(This post was inspired by "Why I Love Karen Mae Reyes" by Iana Amarise. Read the original version of this article at http://thepenandibloggersedition.blogspot.com/2012/06/why-i-love-karen-mae-reyes.html.)

Iana Amarise has described Karen to have proven herself over and over again that she is more than just a beautiful face. She’s a good person, worthy of her fans support.

She says “I’m sorry” whenever she realizes that she does something wrong. She says “I’m sorry” for her shortcomings like when she couldn’t help with the tasks.

For example with the flagpole task, she was sick but she managed to find a way to entertain the tired housemates by doing that awesome Jennifer Hudson "And I Am Telling You" lip sync. That’s Ganda point!

She is serious when it comes to tasks. She tries her best to contribute for them to become victorious.

She is a fighter and she has this strength that endures physically and emotionally. Remember when the mothers entered the house? She was the only girl and she was able to continue to pedal. And also, she has beaten Alec at Tom in lifting the belt which earned her immunity from nomination. Another Ganda point!

She admits that she’s not perfect, that she has a lot to change to become a better person. And now, she has changed a lot since PBB Teens started. Ganda point!

This Hagikgik Chick knows her strengths and at the same time she acknowledges the strengths of the other housemates. She said she’s into dancing but Karen has also praised the housemate who is good in singing. Another Ganda point!

Karen knows her weaknesses. As a matter of fact she doesn’t deny that she’s not that good in English. "Isang basket lang ang dala kong English Kuya,” she admits. Nevertheless, Karen is enthusiastic to learn and try her best to keep up with the housemates. She was never shy, though it sometimes became the laughing stock in the house. At the very least, it put a smile on the faces of everyone inside the house. Another Ganda point!

Karen, according to her housemates, is moody. But most of the time, she is jolly and this moody hagikgik chick has talked most with sense especially when the housemates seek her advice. Karen is one of the best friends. Another Ganda point!

In times of opposing opinions, Karen does not hold grudges and she forgives easily after a talk. Whenever Karen has a fight with other girls, they always nominate Karen but Karen doesn’t nominate them just because they have misunderstandings. A million ganda points!

If we really look at Karen’s positive side, there are so much ganda points in her.

Let's just continue supporting her.

PINOY BIG BROTHER TEENS BIG 4 SUPER POWERS

PINOY BIG BROTHER TEENS BIG 4
JaiJoj, Myrtle, Karen, Roy

ROY'S KILLER SMILE
Many believe that he is one of the most deserving to be the BIG WINNER. Roy is the only boy in the BIG 4. But that doesn't follow that he has the votes of the teen girls because he is the exact opposite of WGWG (white guy with guitar). But most of you will agree that he would be the BIG WINNER and defeat all his opponents if he uses the "BBS ROY" power votes and flash his killer smile.

MYRTLE'S WEAPON
Myrtle has always been on top of the ranking whenever faced to a challenge. And when I say "top," I mean #1 with very huge distant advantage from the #2. She needs to charge her agility by the votes of her fans. So Myrtle's sole weapon is the "BBS MYRTLE."

THE TWIN POWERS OF JOJ & JAI
It's been the first time for the super twins Jai and Joj to be tested if their endurance is sustainable. And it was proven after 10th eviction night concluded that they were deserving to be in the BIG 4. The Super Twins also have twin powers to increase the chance to become the BIG WINNER -- (1) BBS JAIJOJ; and (2) BBE MYRTLE to make Myrtle weaker.

KAREN'S COMBO ATTACK
We all know that Myrtle's rival is Karen. If Karen will use her first attack, it would be "BBE MYRTLE" so that Myrtle would be weaker. And to fully knock her out, Karen should use "BBS KAREN" as her supporters really boost her strength. Using the combo attack would be fatal to all her opponents and would put her to the pedestal as the BIG WINNER.

I'M LETTING GO OF YOU

Though I don't know how,
I'm letting go of you.
Time to foster my feelings now,
And divide our world's in two.

The clock is ticking.
It says it's 2am.
But my mind's still thinking,
About how fool I am.

Given up my pride,
I gave you all my love.
I did nothing but cry and hide,
'Cause you did not heed my love.

Your apathy got bold.
What's not enough with me?
All of a sudden it felt cold.
Let me know how it's gonna be.

Is it gonna change,
Your love and affection?
Kindly lengthen the patience range,
And remain our devotion.

Only you had it all.
I couldn't help but frown.
Reminiscing your every call,
The day you broke the lovecrown.

And now I've agreed,
To start a life anew.
I'm making myself a good deed,
And I'm letting go of you.

TONIGHT DON'T LET ME BE LONELY

Tonight Don't Let Me Be Lonely

Gloomy and dark night,
Don't let me be lonely,
Though I fight it with all my might,
Still my mind's thinking empty.

The picture draws up,
And the face still remains,
Seems like the mem'ry's been locked up,
On the haven of my brains.

Those that are awesome,
As splendid as the Mars.
Tonight don't let me be lonesome,
Entertain me with your stars.

My blue cold evening,
Please be careful with me.
My heart, I can feel, is breaking,
Please don't let me be lonely.

I want to bleed love.
I want admiration.
But jealousy rules out above.
My veins run depression.

And my heart, it pumps,
Nothing but black heartaches.
Until my sme affection bumps,
And stop all my gray heartbreaks.

Take away partly,
But leave me with my pride,
Tonight don't let me be lonely,
Allow love to be my guide.

Don't let me be sad,
Gloomy and starry night.
Come don't make me a lonesome lad,
Bring me a soul that is right.

FOUR LEVELS OF VALUING LIFE

"A leprosy victim, no matter how wretched has only one life to live out -- one single life just like yours."

This life-shaping realization must be one of the most touching line one must have ever read. Dr. Ruth Pfau, a German doctor who has made a big difference by giving her dedication to eradicate leprosy and its stigma in Pakistan, gave these words.

That certain sentence must be so inspiring. That is so true! Each one of us has only one life to live out -- one single life so everyone should appreciate most the value of life above anything else. However, one people still just do not have second thought when they take their own lives or the lives of other people.  Why do people just do not live it or value it the right way.

But how should one value lives righteously?

There are four levels of valuing lives, (1) Instant Gratification, (2) Personal Achievement, (3) Good Beyond One's Self, and (4) Participation in Ultimate Truth.

Instant Gratification is the lowest level. Many people are on this level of valuing life. This level involves external pleasure possession or physical stimulation of life. This involves giving one's self material things like car, techie gadgets, and the likes. This level is more self-centered and has no enduring happiness by reason of it only focuses the gratification of one's life due to man's unending discontentment. This is also the least challenging because it is not intellectual.

The second level is the Personal Achievement. This level exists when one's life goes on through achieving, winning, admiration, power, and control. This also comes out with comparison of one's life with other people's lives through jealousy, envy, rage, inferiority, superiority, and the likes. If one's life has an utmost experience of a big positive difference to him, he values his life as the second level.

Good Beyond One's Self is the third level. On this level, one is not just valuing his own life but also the lives of other people. One is not just making a positive difference to his life but he is also making a positive difference to the lives of other people. One loves to live his life because it gives him more joy about living, and still he cannot stand the thought of there are other people who are suffering from great poverty, sorrow, and adversities. This level moves you to become a better person by thinking of making a positive difference to another cultures, families, and organizations.

The last and the highest level of valuing life is the Participation in Ultimate Truth. Valuing life on this level is the last level. This involves not just making a positive difference to other people but also the participation in ultimate truth, love, justice, beauty, and being. The best way to value life is accepting God, letting him into our lives. No one can reach infinity. We need God to come to our lives to truly value our lives. If one accepts God, lets him in into our lives, we will be fulfilled and happy. If one values his life on this level, the happiness he would gain is more than that of the three lower levels.

Just like Dr. Ruth Pfau, everybody must live life according to the fourth level. One must learn to value life by finding direction in whatever religion he belongs to, and serve God and other people around him with all of his hearts to make the world a better place. Make the world a better place so that we can say to ourselves, without a doubt that life is beautiful and is really worth living.

You, how do you value your life?

9 NBA seasons
3 Finals appearances

 LeBron James is a champion!!!

LeBron James is finally an NBA champion.

Lebron and the Miami Heat used a huge third quarter en route to a 121-106 Game 5 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

1 2 3 4 T
OKC  26 23 22 35 106
MIA  31 28 36 26121

James had 26 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists, and got the kind of help that was worth leaving home for, leading the Heat in a 121-106 rout of the Oklahoma City Thunder to win the NBA Finals in five games.

The Heat also received a huge mighty effort from Mike Miller, who was unable to contribute much this season because of injuries.

ASH WEDNESDAY: MAN IS DUST, AND UNTO DUST YOU SHALL RETURN

Ash Wednesday, for Catholics, it marks the first day of the Season of Lent. It’s a time when we recognize the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for us by abstaining for 40 days, until Holy week begins on Palm Sunday leading up to Easter.  On Ash Wednesday, the previous year’s palms ashes are burned and spread in the form of a cross over our foreheads. It is a season of penance, reflection, and fasting which prepares us for Christ's Resurrection on Easter Sunday, through which we attain redemption.

Our foreheads are marked with ashes to humble our hearts and remind us that all lives passes away on Earth. We remember this when we are told:

"Remember,
Man is dust, and unto dust you shall return."

While ashes are a symbol of penance made sacramental by the blessing of the Church, and they help us improve a spirit of humility love and sacrifice, also a reminder that God is gracious and merciful to those who call on Him with repentant hearts. His Divine mercy is of utmost importance during the season of Lent, and the Church calls on us to seek that mercy during the entire Lenten season with reflection, prayer and penance.

Friendship, Love and Everything in Between

 "People come and go,
Just move on and let go,
Cry your heart out, that's the deal,
It will just take time to heal."

Sometimes we meet someone but for us to learn that not everything we want will be given to us. Not everything we seek will be found. It is because life has mysteries we have to go through. And one of those mysteries involves "meeting somebody," "making friends," "falling in love," falling out of love," "breaking up," "letting go," "moving on," "goodbyes."

And so this is my very first poem album that talks about exactly of the title. This is called :

  1. WHISPERING VOICE
  2. SOMETHING ABOUT YOU
  3. WHEN IT'S OVER, IT'S OVER
  4. LOOK ME IN THE EYES
  5. I'M NOT YOURS
  6. I WANT TO SEE YOU
  7. I AM BY YOUR SIDE
  8. NO ONE ELSE KNOWS
  9. SAY MY NAME
  10. YOUR SMILE
  11. I HEART YOU
  12. LOVE IS
  13. ALL I NEED IS YOU
